Direct School Admission (DSA)
MGS is conducting the Direct School Admission (DSA) exercise to admit Secondary 1 pupils for the academic year 2009. DSA allows the school to offer places to suitable pupils before the release of the PSLE results.
MGS invites Primary 6 pupils to participate in this year’s DSA exercise. They are pupils with one or more talents in the following categories:

| 1 | DSA (SBC): Intellectually talented pupils to join our scholastic programme, the Sophia Blackmore Class (SBC) |
Pupils who demonstrate consistently high academic achievement. Applicants for the SBC have to sit for a Selection Test*. There is an administrative fee of $60 per applicant for the Selection Test. * The test is optional for those applying only through other categories. |

DSA (Sports): Athletically talented pupils to join Team MGS |
Pupils who have outstanding achievements at recognised competitions. |
| 3 | DSA (MEP): Musically talented pupils to join our Music Elective Programme (MEP) |
Pupils who are proficient in playing:
Only short-listed candidates will be called for an audition in July/August. |
| 4 | DSA (Performing Arts – Dance only): Aesthetically talented pupils to join our Performing Arts group (Dance) |
Pupils who demonstrate outstanding talents/achievements in Dance. Criteria: Grade 5 and above in RAD Dance Examination Only short-listed candidates will be called for an audition in July/August. |
An applicant can apply for more than 1 category.
Each applicant shall pay an application fee of $20, regardless of the number of categories she applies for.
If an applicant is interested to join our Sophia Blackmore Class, an additional SBC Selection Test fee of $40 is charged. Hence, SBC applicants pay $60.

Write applicant’s name, Birth Certificate No., and “DSA Application” on the reverse side of the cheque and submit it with the application forms.
Application Information
Pupils applying for DSA have to submit
- Primary 4 Overall Results (in band), Primary 5 Overall Results and Primary 6 (mid-year) school examinations results (in percentages),
- a personal portfolio of awards and achievements, co-curricular and performing arts activities, leadership and community involvement programmes, special talents and project work
- a personal statement
- a teacher’s recommendation
- any supporting documents such as school records, music certificates, dance RAD certificates, testimonials, official competition results, etc
Pupils currently not studying in our national schools need to obtain a Registration Number from MOE Customer Service Centre (CSC) directly before their application forms are accepted. MOE CSC may be contacted at 68722220.

A pupil may apply for a place through more than one category. The earlier application deadline would then apply.
The outcome of applications through the DSA exercise will be released by the end of August 2008 via a letter to the applicant.
Places offered through DSA are conditional pending the pupil’s PSLE results which determine her eligibility for admission to either the Special or Express Stream.
