Gymnastics is where children cultivate significant values and skills for life as they explore basic movements through a variety of tasks. These movement tasks facilitate the development of physical and emotional strength, joint mobility, balance co-ordination and good posture. The recreational Fun Gym programme provides the opportunities for pupils to be familiar with the elements of floor exercise, balance beam, vault, uneven bar. To be in the training squad, pupils need to be competent in the 4 apparatus (mentioned earlier), according to the requirements of the National Inter-school Gymnastics Championships.
There are 155 girls who are enrolled in Fun Gym & Training Squad. Fun Gym takes place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the Training Squad attends sessions on Tuesday and Thursday. In 2006 MGS attained the 1st position in the ‘C’ Optional event Uneven Bars (individual). This year, we are proud that the ‘C’ Novice team and ‘C’ Optional team finished 4th in the tough nationwide competition. Our girls gave of their best and put up a spirited performance.
